Levy Vinick Burrell Hyams LLP is proud to announce that associate attorneys Hilary P. Hammell, left, and Katherine L. Smith have been selected to the 2019 Northern California Rising Stars list by Super Lawyers. The distinction is limited to only 2.5% of attorneys in Northern California.

Katherine joined the firm as an associate attorney in 2014 after serving as an LVBH fellow following her graduation from law school. She was first named to the Rising Stars list in 2018. “Being selected for a second year in a row for the work I love to do makes me feel honored,” she said. Katherine interned at the Women’s Employment Rights Clinic at Golden Gate University Law School, where she was awarded a full merit scholarship and graduated with Honors. Katherine has long shared the deep commitment to social justice and a passion for the law that is ever-present among the attorneys of Levy Vinick Burrell Hyams LLP.

Hilary joined the firm in 2018. Prior to that, she clerked for the United States Court of Appeals for the Tenth Circuit, received a prestigious Skadden Fellowship to work at the nonprofit law firm and advocacy organization, Public Advocates, and then represented Spanish-speaking clients at San Francisco’s Open Door Legal. Hilary is a graduate of the University of Washington School of Law, where she won a full scholarship based on her commitment to public service.

Each year, the Super Lawyers research team make selections using a patented multiphase process that includes a statewide survey of lawyers, an independent research evaluation of candidates and peer reviews by practice area. The result is a credible, comprehensive and diverse listing of exceptional attorneys.
